Course Description

This course is intended to assist in satisfying the annual training requirement of the Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) rule, found in Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1910.120. The standard was specifically developed to protect workers that may be exposed to hazardous waste at uncontrolled hazardous waste sites and at EPA licensed waste treatment, storage and disposal facilites; as well as workers responding to emergencies involving hazardous materials (such as spills).

Outcome

Upon completion of the first module, students should be able to:

  • Explain the roles of the different federal and state agencies involved with hazardous waste site operations
  • Identify the legislation and regulations governing hazardous waste site operations
  • Define the levels of training required for hazardous waste site workers at uncontrolled hazardous waste sites.

Assessment

Refresh your knowledge and understanding of the requirements for hazardous waste operations and emergency response (HAZWOPER), as required by 29 CFR 1910.120; and to help satisfy the annual HAZWOPER training required for re-certification.

  9. Module 9 Emergency Response Following each module, the student will take an on-line test before they proceed to the next module. The course is complete once all the tests have been taken. Students are able and encouraged to go back and re-take the test to improve their score. All scores will be recorded.
